New Year & a new base line! Crystal Wastes

In the effort to keep current and post more often here is my second post of the new year!

This is officially our 3rd line for 40k, just like our other two lines these are crafted with a emphasis on the ability to use the base multiple times in a army and each miniature will look different due to the three dimensional aspect of the bases.

Released today! Codex: Dark Angels!

So I know it's been MONTHS since I last posted, and excuses are a dime a dozen, but there is nothing like a new Codex focusing on bikes to rekindle interest regardless of what's going on in the background...

First blush:
Games Workshop continues with the "Buy something new"... decreasing the cost on the models infrequently seen in DA armies, reasonable prices on some of the new toys.. This also means certain units got more expensive...
Leadership is base 8 on almost everything, requiring a 10 point upgrade for a Veteran Sergeant.

Before they go into retirement... Landspeeders & Storms

I am not sold on Landspeeders, point for point, in sixth edition, and Storms explode from a strong breeze so they are going on a shelf for the time being.
Before they start collecting dust however here are photos.
Paint scheme was desert sandstone, trying to blend in with the basing as much as possible.

Some light conversion work, magnetized for easy swaps and storage.

6th Edition and Me : The White Scars are dead, Long live the White Scars!

First Let me start with a couple disclaimers:
This is my interpretations of 6th Edition, the Space Marine Codex, and Bike Armies as a whole 13 games in, including several Nova Qualifier / Beta games.. I am 8-3-2 using pure codex SM, BA, and also SM’s with IG / BA Allies.
I welcome 6th, I like change! The challenge of adapting to new rules, the introduction of new tactics, all have me excited. I have mixed feelings however on Bikes in 6th.

Second a unit breakdown highlighting the major changes and what I have seen.
To keep it brief I am summing up what I have experienced and if you want details justifying my position post and I will respond.

The Adeptus Mechanicus Project

Icon Bearer:

I am long overdue for a series of posts showing the 50+ guys mostly done, heck don't get me started on the WIP prototype "Heavy Weapon" servitors I am working on..

Theme: AdMech / SpireGuard from Prospero. Red Prime color, gold and white secondary.

For now I need some feedback on this guy. Is there too much red?

I painted the Banner and Body separate, and I know I need to do some final cleanup on the Icon (free handing words at that scale are a challenge for me). But back to the question should I repaint the cloak in a off white/cream or is the red acceptable?

AdMech Factory Ruins: 120mm Ovals / Risen from the dead (OMG D3 ate my soul….)

I know I know it’s been over 2 months… Between a little bit of burn out lingering from The Colonial and a massive addiction to Diablo 3 (seriously it’s like heroin for me) I have had zero “time” for the hobby.
I admit I have a problem… First step right?
In an attempt to break the habit I spent a couple days working on the long overdue 120mm Admech Ovals. Speaking of thank you all(who provided it) for the feedback, I made several solid design changes in the this release.
First I made sure to leave enough clean and clear area to easily mount the Games Workshop Flyers. The Egyptian ovals can fit flying stands, but I will admit it takes a little work.
Second I cleaned up the lines, design and flow a little bit more vs the first release. This is both to allow for quicker painting and to help make sure they cast with less effort!
Now these are WIP, and I noticed some of the details didn’t show up (white plasticard on white plasticard? Shocking) but feedback please!

Battle Report: GW Battle Bunker “Total War” 2500 point tournament

The Local Games Workshop Battle Bunker decided to fill the void left by the loss of ‘Ard Boyz with a 2500 point store event themed around the previous years events. x3 2.5 hour rounds, no painting requirements, and non standard missions.  24 attendees (down from 34, I think in part from the high point value) resulted in a $240 prize pot.
